We all know that the beloved holiday, Valentine's Day, is approaching. However, not all of us have a special someone to surprise us with flowers and chocolates on this special day. So, in honor of Valentine's Day, allow me to give you guys a little advice on choosing the right person so that next year's big day is one to remember.

Find you somebody who...

1. knows the difference between their, there, and they're.

If you're anything like me, this is a definite pet peeve. So, when the next person comes around, let it be known that they're gonna miss their chance if they sit there and confuse these words.

2. converses instead of "conversates".

We all know that communication is a key element in building a solid foundation with a potential boo. However, if they'd rather "conversate" instead of "converse," understand that there isn't much knowledge being brought to the table. #AintTheOne

3. bathes.

This is self-explanatory... If your potential boo has never seen soap and water, you might want to reconsider. Just sayin.

4. has a plan.

Remember that they don't have to have it all together when they meet you. But, what they should have is a realistic plan accompanied by a timeline and a few steps that they've already completed.

and finally... Find you someone who...

5. doesn't eat coleslaw.

If you're an avid reader of my articles, you know that I strongly believe that people who eat coleslaw can't be trusted. So, if your potential boo eats coleslaw, they just might cheat on you. Don't say I didn't warn you.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
