Celebrities. Pop culture. Entertainment. So often today, we base our lives off of celebrity’s lives. What they wear, how they do their hair and what cars they drive all mean so much to us. They become part of our world. It is impossible to walk through the supermarket without stopping and reading the headline on People magazine. We go through the highs with them, and unfortunately, the lows as well. So many times this summer, there have been Hollywood breakups that have broken our hearts.

Here are the top five breakups that have left us heartbroken:

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

Ben and Jen were married for 10 years, and if there was any Hollywood couple we thought would last, it would be this one. Being two successful and powerful movie stars, they each conquered the box office and maintained a quiet home life. All until news broke that they were separating. And now it is being speculated that Ben was cheating with the nanny. The couple has three kids together: Violet, 9; Seraphina, 6; and Samuel, 3. Our hearts are officially broken.

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton

Country’s favorite couple shocked fans when they announced that they had separated after four years of marriage. Rumors of infidelity by both parties have swirled around the couple for years. They have each performed since the split and have been noticeably emotional. For the second time, our hearts are broken.

Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick

Everyone could have seen this one coming. For years, we have watched Kourtney and Scott bicker on "Keeping up with the Kardashians." Kourtney has thrown Scott out of the house nearly every season. They have slept in different beds and haven’t always communicated well. Scott was photographed partying and getting cozy with his ex-girlfriend which was the final straw for Kourtney. The estranged couple have three kids together: Mason, 5; Penelope, 2, and Reign, 8 months. They have been spotted together since the split and have vowed to stay committed to raising their children together. Now who will we watch on "Keeping up with the Kardashians?" Scott was the show. Hearts are shattered.

Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog

Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog have announced that, after almost 40 years together, they have decided to split. Their lives are going in separate directions, and they thank their fans for their support. They will continue to work together and star in their new show on ABC this fall.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale

This sh*t is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S. After 20 years together and 13 years of marriage, the couple have announced that they are separating. Hollywood’s “coolest couple” have three sons — Kingston, 8; Zuma, 6; and Apollo, 1 — and have always bragged about how successful their marriage was. So what went wrong? It is too soon to tell, but all we can say is that we are speechless.

So, what do these celebrity breakups mean for us? Does love really exist? The families we thought were the strongest are now broken. Is there any hope for us? Let’s wait and see how these celebrities handle their situations. Maybe love is real and can be fixed. If not for humans, maybe at least for Muppets.
