5 Books You Need To Read Right Now

Whether you consider yourself a bookworm or struggle to get through a paragraph or two, I think we can all agree that reading is a necessity, an art form if you will. Even for those who don't consider reading to be "for them," I'm sure there has been at least one book that has left an impact on you, perhaps even changed you. Being an avid reader myself, I have stumbled upon quite a few books that have caused me to step back and see things a bit differently. So I have decided to compile a list of said books, and I encourage you to read a few (or all) of them that spike your interest. Some are on the heavier side, and some just made me smile. I realize we all have different tastes when it comes to reading material, so maybe none of these are for you. If that's the case, make a list of your own. There are so many wonderful stories just waiting to be read.

Side note: I could add about 100 more books to this list, but I figured we'd keep it short. These were the first to come to mind.

1. "The Fault In Our Stars" By John Green

I'm starting with this one mainly because I want to get it over with. Yes, I am aware this recommendation is highly cliche of me, and perhaps you believe this book is overrated. I am here to tell you that it is not and it very well might be my favorite narrative of all time. You've probably already seen the movie, but you should read it anyway.

2. "Pug Sheridan" By Sandra Cline

This is probably the most questionable book on this list. I've never understood my draw to it or why I like it so much, I just know that I do. It tells the story of a girl named Pug. I am aware that's a rather anticlimactic description.

3. "Eleanor and Park" By Rainbow Rowell

This book is definitely one that I would have no problem reading two... or seven times. It's basically your typical untypical love story, and it'll make your heart really happy.

4. "An Abundance of Katherines" By John Green

Probably the most underrated of all the John Green books. Give it a shot.

5. "Tuesdays with Morrie" By Mitch Albom

In all seriousness, this might be the most important book on this list. If I were to choose one staple book that every person in existence must read, I would probably pick this one. It is so honest and real, and will just make you happy to be alive.

Happy reading!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
