5 Books I’m Definitely Going to Finish This Summer

I’m being serious this time.

5 Books I’m Definitely Going to Finish This Summer
Taylor Brianne

I love to read. When I was in high school I read all the time. Now that I’m in college, I don’t read as much as I used to because I’m so short on time, but I still love it.

There’s nothing better than sitting down in a comfy chair with a good book. I have so many books I haven’t read it’s criminal. I’m definitely that moron who has a thousand books I haven’t read but, for some reason, I keep buying more. That’s why this summer I’m going to stop buying and start reading.

Here are five books I’ve had on the shelf for too long.

1.The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien

I’m kind of cheating with this one because I’m at least half way through it already. But I’m putting it on my list because I’ve been reading it for at least a year now. I’ve been reading the entire Lord of the Rings series for at least two years. Maybe three, if you count The Hobbit. I have got to finish this series once and for all. It’s time.

2. Allegiant by Veronica Roth

The final installment in the Divergent series, this is another series I’ve been reading for years. I read Divergent and Insurgent right as they came out. My dad brought the first one home from work with him and told me a coworker told me I would like it. She was so right. I read the first two books in just days.

However, it seems I read them so fast that by the time Allegiant came out I had forgotten a lot of what had happened in the first two installments. I keep telling myself I’ll re-read the first two but I just haven’t given myself time. Well, it’s time now. I’m not letting myself out of this house without finishing the series.

3. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

This is another book that I’m already a few pages into. I got it used and stained at a library book sale this year. Although I’m not very far into it, Rainbow Rowell is one of my favorite authors so I’m determined to finish it.

It’s about Lincoln, who works as a sort of email monitor at a news company. If emails are flagged with curse words or anything inappropriate, they’re sent to him. When he starts getting the emails sent back and forth between two coworkers he’s never met, he doesn’t turn them in, opting to be entertained by their silly messages instead. I can’t wait to find out what happens.

4. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

We all know the Hunger Games series. I’m a little ashamed to say I’m this far behind in the game, but at least I’m determined to finish the series. I think I have a problem with just not reading the last book in trilogies. I read Catching Firemy senior year of high school and I’ve owned Mockingjay for a least a year.

This is it: 2016 is the year I finish the Hunger Games series.

5. The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan

This one is more like an entire project. The first novel in a 14 book series, I could be getting myself in over my head. It’s a fantasy series my mom has been reading since before I was born, and she’s been encouraging me to read them for a few years. Hopefully I’ll someday finish them all, but I figured I’d better start small and just aim for finishing the first book.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
