I've written a lot about books this past summer and I realized how much of a hopeless romantic I actually am. I noticed how one book with a gripping love story can really change the way I live my life and how much I love the book itself.
This past week I finished one of the books that I anticipated most The Problem with Forever and it made me realize how much of a sucker for a good love story I am and have always been. So, in honor of that book I wanted to go through 5 of my favorite books that calm the romantic part of my brain and will probably satiate anyone who is in need of a new book.
1. Me Before You by JoJo Moyes
When you read this book you will laugh, you will most definitely cry and you will always remember the story and how it touched your heart. Emilia Clarke (Dragon Queen from Game of Thrones) who plays Louisa Clark did an amazing job portraying this wacky character, but the book can never be more praised and loved. Lou Clark falls for the once serious business man and now even more serious handicapped man. She takes care of him, things happen and somewhere along the way you fall in love with their love. I highly recommend this story and then once your done with the book check out the movie!
"You are scored on my heart, Clark. You were from the first day you walked in, with your ridiculous clothes and your complete inability to ever hide a single thing you
felt"
2. The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout
When I first started this book, I did not know that I would end up loving a character and a couple so much. The basic story within this book revolves around Mallory (also known as "mouse") and Rider Stark, old friends who grew up as foster kids in the system and who went through one too many bad situations. They fall in love (probably because they already loved each other) and they make you fall with them. I found myself re-reading certain scenes that made me so happy and hopeless at the same time. If you want a gripping story with an amazing couple to make you a little bit jealous, then read this. I would even read this if you didn't want any of that because it was well-written and involved a lot of real-world issues that aren't really discussed.
"I never once stopped thinking about you when you were taken away. Four years. All I could hope was that you were in a good place...The hints of the girl I saw in you when we were younger were now right in front of me. The moment you said my name - the moment you hugged me I knew. I knew I'd fall in love with you and I did."
3. Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
I've raved about this book for so long and I will never tire of it. It is by far on of my all time favorites and it will always be a staple in my book collection. It follows the story of a young girl named Sydney who is going through some family problems and she finds herself, her voice, and her first true love. She finds Mac, who is sweet, kind, protective and someone every girl would want in their life. Of course the pattern here is love and their story is quite unique, so I recommend reading to follow her story and then their story.
"You had on a shirt with mushrooms on it, and your hair was pulled back. Silver earrings... The first time you came into Seaside. You weren't invisible, not to me. Just so you know."
4. Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira
I was a bit hesitant to put this book on here considering it's not really about love. It's more about personal development than the love story - in fact even though there are many love stories in this book that should be highlighted - the two relationships that are the most important are between two sisters and then the main character herself. There are good ones and bad ones, and of course the main relationship with narrator Laurel and her love interest goes through a roller coaster of events but as I said before the most important involves Laurel. She knows bits and pieces and holds a lot of her secrets in. After her sister's death, she has to stop keeping secrets and fix herself before she can be with the love of her life.
"When we are in love, we are both completely in danger and completely saved."
5. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Of course, one of the many classic that deserve to be on this list. This story goes through so much and Jane Austen creates a character that is dynamic and easy to relate to. Even though it's based in the 1800's, I think that the main lesson (which is never judge and love) can apply to any time period. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet's love story is one of a kind and can stand with any modern day (or classic).
"To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love"
