The following books, while 4/5 of them contain characters with gifts, or abilities, do hold some wonderful strategies for overthrowing the government! I highly recommend all of these books, not only for plotting, but also for leisure as they're all wonderful reads. Good luck starting your revolution. If you need more rebels in your resistance, let me know!
1. "Red Queen" Saga
Mare Barrow lives in a world where those with silver blood are privileged and those with red blood are oppressed. When she finds herself in the midst of royalty, perhaps she can overpower her oppressors?
Excerpt from Red Queen: "I'm afraid of failing. I'm afraid of letting this opportunity pass us by. And I'm afraid of what happens if nothing in this world ever changes. That scares me more than dying" (Aveyard 230).
2. "Shatter Me" Trilogy
Excerpt from book two, Unravel Me: "I wonder if I'm just as cruel as my own oppressors if I decide that society is right, that some people are too far gone, that sometimes you can't turn back, that there are people in this world who don't deserve a second chance and I can't I can't I can't I can't help but disagree” (Mafi 109).
3. "Delirium" Trilogy
Love is a disease in the world of Lena Haloway. What happens when she finds herself with the disease?
Excerpt from Delirium: "You can build walls all the way to the sky and I will find a way to fly above them. You can try to pin me down with a hundred thousand arms, but I will find a way to resist. And there are many of us out there, more than you think. People who refuse to stop believing. People who refuse to come to earth. People who love in a world without walls, people who love into hate, into refusal, against hope, and without fear" (Oliver 301).
4. "The Grisha" Trilogy
Alina Starkov was just an orphan, a mapmaker. That is, until she found out she could harness great power, more powerful than anything seen before her.
Excerpt from Shadow and Bone: "There is something more powerful than any army. Something strong enough to topple kings, and even Darklings. Do you know what that thing is?”
I shook my head, inching away from him.
“Faith,” he breathed, his black eyes wild. “Faith" (Bardugo 161).
5. "The Darkest Minds" Trilogy
Ruby has been in a work camp for ten years, hiding her great abilities in order to save her own life. At 16, she escapes from her work camp, being forced to learn to control her abilities to be able to survive.
Excerpt from The Darkest Minds: "The darkest minds tend to hide behind the most unlikely faces" (Bracken 456).
