5 Blogs to Check Out if You Don't Know Where to Start with the Keto Diet

The Ketogenic (Keto) Diet is a super low carb diet that gained massive popularity a number of years ago due to the fact that it tends to result in significant weight loss. Starting a new diet is super intimidating: especially as a college student. It's so easy to get caught up in classes and social life that a healthy diet falls to the back burner. After reading about lots of different diet plans and ways to eat healthily, while creating a space for healthy weight loss, my roommate and I have decided that the Keto Diet is for us. And what better way to be held accountable than by tons of strangers on the internet? Since I know we're not the only two college sophomores on the planet that want to lose their freshmen 15 I've decided to create a list of the top five blogs that we've found really helpful learning more about the Keto Diet.

1. https://www.everydayhealth.com/diet-nutrition/keto...

This was the first blog that I came across and I've loved it. It outlines the benefits and potential risks of going on Keto while also providing a comprehensive food list filled with great options. This website also includes seven days worth of example meals to make if you're just starting out.

2. https://ketodietapp.com/Blog/lchf/keto-strawberry-...

This blog has been my absolute favorite in terms of coming up with a meal plan to follow. It provides endless recipes and options that it splits into tons of categories so finding meals that you enjoy while staying on track with your diet is easy.

3.https://ketodash.com/keto-diet

Keto Dash breaks down the science behind the Keto Diet by helping it's readers understand the process of Ketosis that the body will go through in order to begin losing weight.

4. https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-keto-what-i...

Business Insider offers their opinions on the science behind the Keto Diet as well as a short list of foods to eat and avoid for the most opportune weight loss.

5. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-water-balance-d...

One of the most important things being on the Keto Diet is making sure you're drinking enough water. My Water is a free app that sends you reminders throughout the day to drink water and helps you by keeping track and motivating you to hit your goal.

Hoping these resources are as helpful for you as they've already proven to be for my roomie and I. As we get further into the diet we'll to update on anything we find that worked really well (or not well at all). Sidenote: please remember that healthy weight loss is the best kind of weight loss; if it's hurting your body inside it won't be good for the way you look outside. Dieting is meant to be all about self-love and fueling your body the way it deserves, not about self-hate or self-torture.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
