We may say we don't have time to watch Netflix, but let's face it, we make time. In the last four years, I've come to find that Netflix is the true reason why I've gotten through the stress of college... or maybe it caused all of the stress, I haven't quite figured that one out yet. Anyway here they are:
1. One Tree Hill
This was the first show I decided to watch my freshman year in the dorms and man was it a good one! Maybe because I was fresh out of high school and it was easy to relate, but I'm definitely considering watching it all over again. It talked about everything from body image to having children and marrying young to infidelity and death. I mean I could pull quote after quote from this show because of how good the writer was. Take the last montage of lines from the last episode for example:
"It's the oldest story in the world. One day you're 17 and planning for someday and then quietly and without you really noticing someday is today and then someday is yesterday and this is your life. We spend so much time wanting, pursuing, wishing. But ambition is good, chasing things with integrity is good. Dreaming. If you had a friend you knew you would never see again what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love what would it be? Say it, do it, don't wait. Nothing lasts forever. Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want, everything you want" Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true. You never know where the next miracle is going to come from. The next memory, the next smile, the next wish come true. But if you believe that it's right around the corner. You open your heart and mind to the possibility of it, to the certainty of it. You might just get the thing you wish for. The world is full of magic, you just have to believe in it. So make your wish. Do you have it? Good. Now believe in it. With all your heart" - Final Episode, OTH
2. Gossip Girl
Here's another show that I could probably quote a million times. This one, though, was more interesting in my perspective because it was a view of a life that I wasn't familiar with. A group of upper-class teenagers cause a ton of damage while running the Upper East Side of NY. From scandal to scandal the show never hit a dull point. But I have to ask, am I the only one who wanted Nate and Serena to end up together the entire series? Ugh, I guess a girl can dream.
3. Friday Night Lights
Maybe because I am a football coach's daughter, or maybe because I love God and the state of Texas, but this show was absolutely amazing. I believe it only took me about two months to finish all 5 seasons. The comradery between the school and the town was so fun to watch. I could definitely relate and it brought me back to the good ol' Friday nights. But it was about more than just football. I don't want to give it away, but let's just say a lot of unexpected things happened that kept me wanting more. Perhaps a Season 6...?
Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can't lose.
4. Sons of Anarchy
I never thought I would be into this show as much as I am. Aside form the gore and violence that every episode includes, this show actually has a great storyline and make you connect with the characters like they are your family. I remember one instance where a character dies and I literally got out of my seat and started pacing around the room because I couldn't believe what just happened. I may or may not have formed a few tears, but that's just how good the show is. If you can get past the gnarly visuals, I highly suggest it. Once you start, you won't be able to stop. Jax Teller isn't hard to look at either.
5. Grey's Anatomy
Where do I even begin? I mean, do I need to go into detail? Not only are there 12 seasons on Netflix, but Season 13 just started. This means that as of now, it's not going to end. What a perfect scenario! But for the love of God, Shonda Rhimes... WHY DO YOU HAVE TO KILL OFF SO MANY CHARACTERS?!
Happy binging!!
