5 Bible Verses That Changed My Life

People say that one of the best ways to grow closer to God is through His Word, and I could not agree more with that. Through the Bible, we not only see the work of the Lord being done through Jesus Christ, but we get to see His Words and His Plans for us spelled out page by page. I have found comfort, healing, and love through God's Word, and I hope you all will find the same. Here are my top five verses that have had the biggest impact on my life.

1. “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

– Ephesians 3:16-19

Lengthy, but powerful. When I first read this I was in awe. I then proceeded to read it about 20 more times. Everything that I pray for was described in this verse.

2. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

- Romans 5:8

More commonly seen as "I loved you at your darkest." This is one of my favorites for so many reasons, one of them being that God's love is truly spelled out here. Even at our worst times, God still loves us. You could be in the lowest, darkest, and worst state possible, but God's love for you will not fade.

3. "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

- Isaiah 41:10

I have two favorite Bible verses of all time, this being one of them. Here, God speaks so clearly about his unconditional love for us. No matter what is going on in our relationship, he is there to strengthen us and help us. It isn't always going to be easy, but here God says that he will be there to strengthen us during the tough times.

4. “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."

- Isaiah 43: 1-2

Through every obstacle, God is there. Through the good, the bad, and the ugly God is there to comfort and reassure us that we can make it through anything life throws at us, and in no other verse is that spelled out so clearly but in this one.

5. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

- Deuteronomy 31:6

This is my other favorite bible verse of all time. "He will never leave you nor forsake you" touches my heart every time I read it because I am reassured that God will have my back as long as I live and that I should not live in any fear because He will always be with me. That is true love my friends.

I hope that these verses have an impact on your lives like they did mine. I encourage you all to spend time with God and His Word and really let him speak to you through every verse you read.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
