5 Bible Verses For Your New Year's Resolutions
Sarah McKalip

So it's past January 1st and you've made your list of New Year's Resolutions and now we get to the hard part, how do we go about accomplishing and meeting our needs for the New Year? Simple, rely on God and don't quit when it gets difficult. Resolutions weren't made to be easy, change sometimes isn't easy but it's worth it if it's for the better.

I was sitting in Starbucks on December 31st reading 2nd Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ they're a new creation. Behold, the old has gone the new is come." When I think about this verse it reminds me of New Year's Resolutions. Whether you want physical change or emotional or spiritual change, this verse is relevant to New Year's Resolutions. When we change either spirit or body the old is gone and the new shows up for the better.

So as you begin your New Year's Resolutions, I just want to give encouraging bible verses to help get you through those moments when you want to quit, because whether it's getting closer to God or losing weight or getting closer to friends or finding that great job, these verses will encourage you to never quit!

1. 2nd Corinthians 5:17

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ they're new creation. Behold, the old has gone the new is come."

2. Philippians 4:13

"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

3. Zechariah 4:6

"So he said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: "Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit," says the Lord Almighty."

4. Matthew 17:20

"He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you and if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain,"Move from here to there," and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

5. Numbers 6:24-26

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face towards you and give you peace."

Keep pushing on towards your New Year's Resolutions it's only the beginning of a great year and like they say it's the beginning of a 365 page book, write a great one!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
