5 Bible Verses for an Anxious Heart
Santa Banta

When the stresses of life weigh you down, it is so easy to become overwhelmed and let anxiety overbear your life. Lean on these Bible verses to help you get through the times you feel like you are drowning in the circumstances life throws at you.

1. "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" -Luke 12:25-26 We worry about so many things that are out of our control. God wants us to learn to be content with every situation because it is all part of His plan. Even when it seems like your world is falling apart, let God carry you and make people wonder how you've stayed so positive through your struggle.

2. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God" -Philippians 4:6 God knows the desires of your heart and wants you to know the depths of His love for you. Do not be anxious, God will guide you through your hardest battles and always has your best interest at hand.

3. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" -Isaiah 41:10 You weren't created to go through this life alone. Let your heart be filled with certainty that God is always going to hold you, even when you may not feel His presence.

4. "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself" -Matthew 6:34 Stop planning so much and take a step back to live in the moment. We have nothing to worry about for our futures are in God's hands.

5. "Be still, and know that that I am God" -Isaiah 46:10 Take a deep breath. Be still for just a moment. Amid all of your stress, feel God's peace in your heart.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
