No matter who you are or what you do, there are bound to be days in your life where you feel as if you have hit rock bottom. You were late to work, you spilt coffee on your white blouse before your interview, you were in a fender bender, anything. Or if you're like me, several minute issues pile up and make the whole day difficult. God does not want us to be in doubt of his presence in our daily life. Our struggles are always a part of his plan no matter how bad they seem. To keep a happy mind, you can always turn to scripture.

1. Mathew 6:25

God tells us in this verse,

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?"

This verse works wonders when it comes to worry. I often find myself being materialistic about the future. I wonder if I will be able to afford designer bags and yummy steak, etc. However, these things on Earth do not matter. We should focus on God's plan for us.

2. Philippians 4:4-6

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

While we all worry about what is coming or what has passed, learn to focus your worry into prayer. Tell God how you feel and thank him for what he is doing in your life. Your quiet time with God should alleviate some or even all of your stress.

3. Psalm 116:1-2

"I love the Lord, because he hears me;
he listens to my prayers.
He listens to me
every time I call to him.
"

Often times we feel as if we are praying to air. As imperfect Christians, we sometimes find it hard to hear Christ speak to us through prayer. But his word promises that he is listening. He will answer you, it just might take longer than we want.

4. Isaiah 40:30

"..but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

When we trust God we feel like we can take on the world, because we can! God's grace is key in conquering everyday life, so it makes sense that we feel more confident when we are leaning on him.

5. Romans 8:38-39

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

This verse bluntly claims there "ain't no mountain high enough" to keep Christ from "gettin'" to us. We are God's creations and he loves each and every one of us so so deeply. He knit us in our mother's womb. When we are sad he feels our pain, when we are happy he smiles with us. Jesus is not only the father, son, and holy spirit, but is also our best friend in which we should trust.

As we begin 2018, conquer it. Conquer it with God on your side. He hears you, he is with you, and he LOVES you.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
