Sure, a caramel swirl latte tastes great, and a quick cup of English Breakfast tea will give you the boost in energy you need, but are you really getting the most out of your afternoon tea or coffee? Turns out, there are many other (and dare I say better) ways to vary your coffee than adding a flavor shot. Next time you're at the counter at your favorite cafe, consider switching your order to one of these options.

1. French Press

Giving your coffee extra time and attention makes for a much better brew. Though they use coarse coffee grounds like a classic drip coffee, French presses create a richer, stronger brew without becoming too bitter (Click here to learn the steps). The next time you have a few minutes to spare in the morning, show your coffee some extra love.

2. Cortado

Like the concentrated caffeine of an espresso, but want something to take the bitterness down a notch? Try a cortado, an espresso and steamed milk combination popular in Spain and hip coffee shops in the US (Here's everything you need to know about it). The milk is more thoroughly incorporated in the espresso than a macchiato, making this drink as palatable as it is adorable - just look at the tiny glass they're often served in!

3. London Fog

This is not your typical cup of Earl Grey. This drink adds steamed milk and a shot of vanilla syrup to make a creamy, satisfying cup of tea that can warm up even the dreariest morning.

4. Matcha

The darling of health gurus everywhere, matcha tea is brewed from a powder made of ground green tea leaves. Usually served frothed with hot water (or milk to make a matcha latte), this tea has a creamier taste than typical green tea. And it just might be the healthiest item on this list!

5. Turkish Coffee

This is a richer take on the typical espresso. Finely ground coffee beans are boiled and poured into a cup, unfiltered (Here's more). If the thought of coffee grounds mingling with the brew in your cup makes you quiver, it might be comforting to know that the dregs settle safely on the bottom and the coffee on top is often mixed with sugar. The smooth, full flavor will make you question how you ever settled for a plain ol' cup of joe before.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
