When I started college, everyone told me that long distance would not work and I should go ahead and break up with my boyfriend before I got there. I knew they had a point - long distance in college is really hard. But I knew I had to try. After 2 years, I couldn't just say goodbye without even trying. And after a semester, let me tell you, it is hard. It is really hard. But, it can work. And even though there are a lot of negatives, there are also a lot of positives...
1. You get more friends
When you go to different schools, you have different friends. That means your circle of friends expands.
2. You never get tired of each other because the time you have is limited
You aren't around each other 24/7 anymore, so you never get tired of being with each other because you know it won't last very long.
3. The time we do get to spend together is better
Because your time together is limited, you don't waste it bickering or fighting about stupid things. The quantity of time decreases, but the quality of time increases exponentially.
4. Spontaneity increases
Surprise trips to see each other? Those are even better than planned trips.
5. You learn to trust more
You aren't with each other, so you have to trust each other. This just makes your relationship stronger.
So yeah, long distance sucks, but there are some advantages. And despite what people say, it can work.
