The 5 Best Rory Gilmore Outfits

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life comes out this Friday, and I couldn't be more ecstatic! The last time a new episode aired was back in 2007, and we've waited so long for it to come back. We saw Rory and her style evolve over the years from when she started off at 15 years old until she graduated college. From what the previews and the trailer have shown, her style has a "young professional" vibe to it. Of course, we can't wait to see what she is up to now!

As we watched Rory grow up and her fashion choices change over the years, she had some definitive outfits over time. Outfits that marked her younger years and others that showed how she matured in college. I've picked some of my favorites that pinpointed different points of her life during the seven seasons, with each one having its own story behind it. Which one is your favorite?

1. The Chilton Dance

When Rory began Chilton, it was a whole new world for her. The Chilton dance was her first school dance, as well as a time she publicly showed off her boyfriend Dean to her school mates. Rory's dress was one-of-a-kind, especially since it was handmade by Lorelai. The satin bodice shows off her shoulders, while the tulle bottom flares out into a tea-length, A-line silhouette. A delicate necklace adorns her while her hair is tied up in a beautiful bun. Rory's barely-there makeup shows how young she still is in the first season, but she looks beautiful as ever!

2. The Golfing Expedition

As we know, Lorelai and Rory aren't the sporting types, but when Rory is invited to go golfing with her grandpa for the first time, she tries her best. Her outfit is very golf-ready, especially with the "Fez-tive" beret that Richard gives her. In this episode, Rory wears a lilac button-down, high-waisted khakis, digital watch, and beret. She is still young in this episode, which shows in her demeanor as well as her appearance. The golfing day with her grandpa is the beginning of their close relationship that builds throughout the series.

3. College Class Ready

As Rory goes through college, her style begins to evolve. We see her wearing shorter skirts with tights (perhaps the Chilton skirt rubbed off on her outfit choices), and making more stylish clothing decisions. Above, Rory is pictured wearing a brown leather jacket and shirt, which she often paired with her skirts and striped tights. In previous years, her style leaned towards a casual appearance, but unlike most college students, her style became more pulled together. Her shorter hair also signifies the change she is going through as she herself becomes less shy than she was in past years.

5. Art Show Exhibition

Rory went through a lot during her college years. During her visit to cover the art exhibition, she not only meets two new friends, but she exemplifies her new grown-up style. Wearing a stylish, navy blue dress that cascades past her knees, she shows off her nude heels. She also rocks her loose waves and new bangs that really change her look from her typicly straight hair in the past. This stylish and grown up Rory is all we hope she would be (even when she was timid about her post-grad future)!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
