Yoga is one of the fastest growing and most popular workout options across America. There are many different forms of Yoga and ways that you can express positivity and help you become more mindful of your inner self. Here are 5 other benefits of doing Yoga...
1. Improves Your Flexibility
This one is a big one. Being flexible will help with increasing your mobility and preventing future injury. It is also a fun way to create goals for yourself and truly see the improvements you are making over the course of your yoga sessions.
2. Makes You Happier
Just like any exercise, Yoga promotes the increase of endorphins in the body that help to relieve stress and make you happier. Not only that, but doing Yoga as a means of deep self-reflection and meditation can help you better handle your problems and figure out the ins and outs of your mind. Most Yoga classes focus on a certain theme for their lessons, keeping the practice centered around that specific theme.
3. Helps You Sleep Deeper
Anyone have trouble sleeping at college? I know I do. By regularly doing Yoga it can help your chances of getting good sleep at night. Who wouldn't want that? There are many different Yoga classes centered on this idea of relaxation and there are many poses you can do at night to help you relax and fall into a deep restorative sleep.
4. Increases Self-Esteem
Like I said before Yoga helps promote positivity and this can help you start to boost your self-esteem. Many Yoga practices have a focus on positive internal reflection that persists throughout the class. It can help you start to focus on yourself and look at yourself in a more positive light. Not only that, but after a while you will start to see the physical benefits of Yoga and that can positively reflect your self-esteem.
5. Benefits Relationships
Again with the positivity! Yoga not only promotes positivity in the Yoga room but also to other aspects of your life. It can help you deal with relationship stress better, learn to tell the truth, and do no harm to others. All of these things are vital in a relationship and Yoga helps to promote these things in all aspects of your life.
Yoga is something that became a rather integrated part of my life in high school during cross country and track season. It helped me maintain a positive outlook before races and after really hard workouts. We were able to relax, stretch out, and absorb all that we had done that day and try to end the day on a positive note.
Yoga is something you can do literally anywhere so if there are reasons you cannot make it to the gym you can do it in your room. Starting or ending the day with a positive outlook and a healthy start is the recipe for success.
