Sure, drinking may be all fun and games in the moment, but how great is it the next day? There are definitely some benefits to drinking. People are naturally more sociable, and therefore are more willing to take risks and do things they normally wouldn't. Most of the time, that's not a good thing. But in some rare cases, it actually can be. Alcohol can also help people relax after a long day. And surprisingly, it even has a few health benefits.

Drinking can make you feel young. It reminds people of parties and the good old college days. But at regardless of how it makes you feel, too much alcohol will actually decrease your life expectancy. Not only do the health disadvantages outweigh the benefits, but the overall advantages of not drinking in general are far greater, too. Here are five benefits of not drinking.

1. No hangovers

Has any human being on the face of the earth ever say "I actually enjoy hangovers"? I think we can all agree the overwhelming answer is absolutely not. Even if you love the drinking and the partying, no one likes the consequences that follow. Headaches, nausea, loss of sleep, and all the other terrible hangover symptoms are certainly no one's idea of a good time. One of the biggest benefits of not drinking is getting to actually enjoy the morning after. You can have fun all night long, but you won't regret it a few hours later!

2. You'll make memories you actually remember

Not only will you avoid the hangover regrets, but you'll also enjoy the actual night of fun a whole lot more. You'll be able to have a good time, while also knowing that you'll still remember it all the next day. What's the point of making memories if you have to hear about them from someone else's point of view? Not drinking allows you to make them AND remember them all for yourself. The main reason people go to parties and drink in the first place is to make new friends and create mementos to look back on. And it may seem crazy, but you can make just as fun and unforgettable memories even if you're sober. Sometimes, they may actually be more fun!

3. Overall, it's way healthier

Yes, there are a few health benefits to consuming moderate amounts of alcohol. But at the end of the day, there are far more health advantages to not drinking. Almost everyone knows that alcohol causes liver damage, risk of heart disease, and poor memory. But giving up alcohol can also lead to better sleep, improve digestion, and give you more energy. Alcohol doesn't just hurt your body because of hangovers. It overall disrupts your immune system, which directly leads to other types of sickness. Alcohol may make you feel good in the moment, but it'll hurt your body more in the end.

4. It's also a lot cheaper

Abstaining from alcohol will not only be easier on your body, but your wallet will be thanking you, too. Alcohol is not cheap by any means. Adding one drink to your meals can increase your bill by eight to ten bucks. And if you intend to have more than one, then your total really starts to reach new heights. Sticking to water or even soda is an easy way save money. It may seem a little boring. But think about all of the fun things you could use that money for instead! So if you're tight on money or are struggling to save, consider giving up alcohol. You'll be surprised at how quickly that savings account starts to add up.

5. If you don't start, you never have to quit

We all know the key to alcohol is moderation. But we also all know that the slope between moderate and severe can be very slippery. Giving up alcohol might be one of the hardest addictions a person could overcome (second only to smoking). But similar to smoking, the easiest way to quit is to never begin in the first place. And the longer you go without drinking, the less tempting it becomes. You might even be surprised at how hard it is to get back into it. So in the wise words of my Grandma, if you don't start, then you never have to quit.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
