5 Beauty Products You Can't Live Without During Quarantine

Before reading: All these products have reacted well with my skin, but I would definitely read the ingredients before purchasing any of these items in case of allergies!

Ever get sick of rolling out of bed on day 56 of quarantine, looking in the mirror and not liking what you see, but also not wanting to waste a full face of make-up on a day consisting of baking and making house-calls? These five products will help you achieve that fresh-faced effortless look, without being overly cakey.

1. Drunk Elephant moisturizer

Drunk Elephant's Protini Polypeptide Creame moisturizer is by far the most important beauty product in my collection. It is the perfect base to all skin care products and is also a great night-cream. I have an oily t-zone and extremely dry cheeks and under-eyes. I use this face lotion all over my face and neck and never get overly oily. I am currently using a small sample size of the product and it has lasted me a month with half the container left! A little truly goes a long way with this product. You can buy this creme from most beauty supply stores. It is currently running at $68 for the full size container.

2. Too Faced mascara

Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara is a staple in my everyday make-up routine. If I have a zoom call interview or even a scheduled facetime with college friends, I am always using this incredible product to keep myself looking alive. Not only am I obsessed with the formula itself, but the actually applicator brush. is the perfect shape to curl and lift your lashes. It is easy to take-off and isn't clumpy like a lot of mascaras I have used in the past. This mascara is running at $25 for their standard size which is what I currently have in my collection. I definitely recommend for those in search of a daily mascara!

3. Origins Original Skin face masks

Origins Original Skin's Retexturing Mask with Rose Clay comes in third for my favorite quarantine beauty products. As I mentioned early, I struggle with an overactive T-zone that causes me to break-out occasionally on my nose, forehead and chin. This product saved my skin! It gently treats my pores and cleanses the imperfections on my skin. I usually leave the product on for around 10 minutes and experience instant results. This face mask is running at $25 for the 2.5 fl. oz. size. Definitely read the ingredients before purchasing and I would recommend getting the smaller size when first buying this product to make sure you like the consistency! I believe the smaller size is $13.

4. Tarte blush

I absolutely live by Tarte cosmetics and have been using their blush since freshman year of high school. I am most definitely NOT not a tan person, so Tarte blush gives my pale skin some color that is not overbearing. I have recently been using a mini size Tarte blush in the color rosy nude that has lasted me four months now even with heavy use. It is a vital part of my daily-make up routine and I genuinely do not know how I would survive without it. This blush is running at $29 for the full-size and $15 for the mini-size. Sephora has an amazing display of the colors online for you to choose from since stores are currently closed at the moment.

5. Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pencil

The Anastasia Beverly Brow Whiz in the shade dark brown is my go-to cosmetic product and the first step to every beauty routine I have done in quarantine. In fact, on some days, I will use my face moisturizer and my Brow Whiz pencil and nothing else. The way I groom my brows completely changes how I look and therefore determines how confident I feel. Doing my brows is like brushing my teeth. I have to do it to feel complete and clean. I have purchased quite a few Brow Whiz pencils, but the dark brown shade is slightly darker than my natural hair color which I think looks best on my brows. This product is running at $23 which I think is affordable and completely worth it!

I hope these products will add some extra excitement and joy into your beauty routines as they have in mine during these hard times. Again, make sure to read product ingredients and reviews before purchasing anything to check they work with your skin!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
