It's Fall and everyone knows it.
If you close your eyes at this time of the year, what are the five things that come up in your head?
1. Everything is pumpkin-spice flavored
2. Ankle boots
3. Leggings
4. The brand "Colombia" puffy vests
5. Chunky sweaters
Although those five things that came up in my head aren't necessarily bad, I think they are over-used. Let's give all those things a break and to do this I am going to give five other suggestions instead.
1. Pear or Chai flavored is better than pumpkin-spice. Chai can be iced or hot, both are delicious. And pear flavored pies are a good alternative too.
2. I do own several ankle boots as every girl probably owns at least one pair. But now there's an ankle boot epidemic in my college campus. So if you want your feet to be different, go for anything other than an ankle boot. Actually, don't wear those riding boots that are rain-proof either. I can spot those about a mile way. If you want to wear ankle boots or riding boots, get some that are different from the rest.
3. If you really want to wear leggings, why don't you just buy the jeans that feel like leggings? Or you can actually wear normal jeans. You know what else is also comfortable? Not skinny jeans, because those are just stuck to the whole bottom half of your body. Instead, flared jeans. Yes, the ones you wore during your childhood and middle school years. Let's all admit that flared denim jeans are comfortable and cute.
4. Find a classic trench coat that will actually cover your arms. Because for real, what is the point of puffy vests? Your torso is warm while your arms are probably freezing. If you wear Colombia vests with oversized long-sleeve shirts, you are blending in with the other 95% of girls and guys who wear those too.
5. Instead of those chunky sweaters, go find yourself a fitted turtleneck or a cute poncho. These options are way more different than your usual oversized chunky sweater.
At the end of the day, you can wear whatever you want even if that's wearing something that's constantly worn by other people. If you feel comfortable, you do you, but I won't be able to recognize you in the crowd of other people wearing the same thing.
