1. Big Little Lies


Big Little Lies follow the lives of 3 mothers -Madeline, Celeste, and Jane- who live in a town that's dealing with a murder case. Despite the tragedy of the plot, this show/book is a witty comedy. Madeline, Celeste, and Jane live in a town that’s fueled by scandal and rumors and the narrator explores the mischief these women get into and the hilarity that ensues with it!

2. Handmaid's Tale

This dystopian novel/show takes place during a time when women are completely stripped of all rights and treated like property. The story follows the journey of handmaid Offred and her fight to find her daughter and fight against the society built to tear her down.

Who doesn’t love a fairy tale? Ella Enchanted is a light-hearted story about the retelling of Cinderella. Ella has been “gifted” (more like cursed) with the obedience, for she must obey any command given to her no matter what. If this “gift” is made known, Ella is gonna face a lot more trouble than just her catty step-sisters.

Three female NASA employees- Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson- are the untold masterminds behind sending John Glenn into space. This is a true story about the discrimination and misogyny that black women faced during a time when many didn’t believe in their intelligence. Not only did that prove the world wrong, but they made a permanent imprint on our history.

5. 13 Reasons Why

The book/show follows the story of Hannah Baker- a teenage girl who committed suicide. Hannah has left 13 tapes dedicated to different students at her school that explains their part in her decision in ending her life. Clay, the boy who secretly has a crush on her, receives the box of tapes and has to figure out how he contributed to her suicide and the part the 12 other students played as well.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
