5 Attractions They Should Build At The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The new Harry Potter theme park opened in Hollywood, so why aren't there any distinctly new attractions?

For those of you not as engrossed in Harry Potter current events, the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter had its grand opening at Universal Studios Hollywood last week. From what I have researched, and to my slight dismay, it is nearly identical to the existing park in Orlando. Don't get me wrong, I will still visit the Hogwarts castle religiously throughout my lifetime, as I currently do with the Orlando park. However, I was hoping for a little something extra to set it apart from its sister location. Perhaps the engineers over at Universal need a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing. Here is a list of the rides and attractions I would love to see added to the Harry Potter theme parks!

1. Knight Bus ride.

This would be awesome as a simulator type of attraction. Imagine being inside the knight bus, racing through the streets of London, or even you can customize the city you are in. The walls of the simulator enclose as the bus squeezes between cars, you flip around when Stan decides to take a detour up a wall and the Shrunken Head is narrating your adventure every turn you take.

2. Horcrux scavenger hunt.

There would be realistic statues of the seven horcruxes scattered about the park, and it is your job to track them all down. These horcruxes can be destroyed using the interactive wands currently sold at Universal. This would use a similar technology as the existing hidden spell locations throughout the park.

3. One-eyed witch passage.

In the series, this passage leads from Hogwarts to the cellar of Honeydukes in Hogsmeade. Though it may not be practical to construct an underground tunnel in the middle of the park, it sure would be cool! This could function as the Express Pass entrance to the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride inside Hogwarts.

4. Guided walk-through of Hogwarts.

Imagine exploring the castle from the perspective of a Hogwarts student. Get caught on a moving staircase, accidentally enter a room occupied by the ferocious Fluffy and tour the various house common rooms. Perhaps Peeves the poltergeist could even make an appearance, since he wasn't able to grace us with his presence in the films.

5. Hogwarts castle firework show.

Have you seen the firework show that was displayed at the grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Hollywood last week? It was truly magical! This needs to be a nightly occurrence.

For those of you with connections at Universal, feel free to give 'em a little elbow nudge and pass this along.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
