As someone who constantly procrastinates, I have developed a love for my iPhone more than the average person. That being said, I am constantly downloading new apps to avoid responsibility. Several apps (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) have remained popular throughout the years, but there have been several apps that were huge then eventually disappeared that should have remained popular AF because they were perfect for procrastinators like me.
1. Draw Something
(Released: February 24, 2012)
What wasn't to love about getting to become Picasso for a second and have your friends guess what it was? The best part? You could literally draw anything and it could look nothing like the word you said it was and whoever you were playing would have to spend far too much time trying to figure out what your drawing was. A modern day mobile Pictionary- artsy.
2. DragonVale
(Released: September 14, 2011)
I remember everyone building their dragon farms and showing how cute their baby dragons were. I high key love this because of the low-key maintenance this took. Most of this app was waiting (dragons take specific times to hatch- the cooler the dragon, the longer the wait) It gave you something to look forward to during the day (0/10 wouldn't recommend if you're an impatient person).
3. Candy Crush
(Released: April 12, 2012)
Before you judge me, I've never sent out a mass Candy Crush request to my Facebook friends (just the ones that play Candy Crush). How could you not love this game? It was simple and fun- match candy and rack up points. It was pretty much the easiest way to waste time (all while feeling like you were accomplishing something).
4. Trivia Crack
(Released: October 26, 2013)
I love trivia and am shamelessly good at knowing the oddest facts. This game was/is a mobile trivia night that I can play with anyone anywhere, at any time and I've learned much more trivia through my incorrect answers- did you know that Meg Ryan's name is an anagram for a European country? Germany, to be exact.
5. Words With Friends
(Released: July 2009)
I will admit this game gets a 0/10 for creativity- it's literally online Scrabble. That being said, it was popular with people who enjoy word games (and who would have guessed that an English major would love word games?) Regardless, if you love word games (and wasting time) this was a great way to learn some new words with people all over the world.
I'll shamelessly admit that I still have all of these apps on my phone
