1. SelfControl.
No matter what kind of student you were before college, your life is now full of distractions from school. College students can’t live without social networks; we always need to check for new photos of friends on Insta, or share something hilarious via YikYak. To avoid these distractions, the SelfControl application has been created: it blocks certain websites that can distract you from studying, and it does it for a set amount of time. So, when a lecture is finished, you are welcome to come back to your fave websites again!
2. RealCalc Scientific Calculator.
The name of this application perfectly describes its features and functions. If you are a math student, and you need a calculator to solve equations quickly, you are welcome to download RealCalc Scientific Calculator. Now, you don’t have to worry about forgetting your calculator at home (you can still forget your phone, but probably not). Be sure to take your calculator on test days, though! Most professors aren’t cool with the phone calculator swap.
3. JumpCut.
Sometimes, out of laziness, we get into a habit of copying and pasting passages and making them fit until we have enough information for an essay. Some students add a few thoughts, change a few words and BAM! A new essay! Sound familiar? Then JumpCut is your savior app. This application will save a lot of time, giving you access to all texts that you have copied and pasted before, even if a new text has been copied by you again since then.
4. Chegg.
With each new semester, buying new books becomes a hassle, but do not be in a hurry to sell your soul and spend all of your money! Chegg is a free application that lets you find rentals of textbooks you need, and buying a membership provides access to “available now virtual tutors” as well as worked through guided solutions. Just search for a book, and if they have it, put in an order. And when you no longer need a textbook, you can easily rent it again via Chegg, which is easy to use and useful to try.
5. Google Drive.
Being a college student in 2015 means having a large number of Google Docs from professors, or any group work in classes (and chances are, that this number will be much bigger than you could even imagine). Google Drive makes sharing images, spreadsheets, documents, and group work easier than meeting up on campus to exchange information, and virtual real-time editing can be a life-saver with your crazy new schedule. You never know when or where you will need to access these documents; so, the best decision here would be Google Drive application for your mobile device.
