I used to take AP classes in high school solely for colleges to classify my schedule as rigorous.

Looking back, I gained so much knowledge on a real world perspective that will apply to my life even after high school.

I wish I was told this information on what classes to take as an underclassman.

1. Ap Psychology

AP Psychology was my first and best AP class in my high school career. Not only did my teacher love me because I also had her for World History Honors, she was an overall A+ teacher. It was interesting to learn about the science behind how and why we think.

2. AP Environmental Science

I am currently taking AP Environmental Science and I never knew how important our community is. After volunteering for extra credit opportunities, I realized that I play a huge role in maintaining the environment. It was interesting to learn about the significance of simple things like air, soil, and water.

3. AP Government and Politics

As someone who wasn’t interested with the government and politic system, I was indecisive as to whether I should take this class. I thought I had all the basic knowledge I needed to know about government, but I was certainly wrong. I never knew how much of an impact the economy and people had on the government.

4. AP Macroeconomics

Even though this was hands down the toughest class I’ve taken in high school, I took away so much. I realized that I will have teachers that do not match my learning style and that is okay. Through this obstacle, I was able to become more independent and learn my learning style even better.

5. AP Literature

Prior to this class, I’ve always loved writing and reading. This class only made this passion grow through the books we read and the essays we wrote. Also, seeing my teacher’s love for teaching and literature inspired me everyday. I am so glad that I took this class to be more involved in the literature sphere.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
