Don't get me wrong, I love summer. I love the freedom, the pool days and my birthday but, I HATE this heat and oh the humidity! I don't know how much more I can take! Fall is the superior season in my opinion but, with fall comes school. As a recent a highschool graduate this fall is particularly anticipated. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm not ready to go back to class however, I am trying to prepare nonetheless. I can't stop classes from beginning but I can be prepared for this semester. Many people will give you tepeat dvice about preparing for your first semester so here are five alternative ways to get ready for the fall semester.
1. Sleep!
Sleep while you still have the chance! Pretty soon you'll be waking up at 6 a.m. or only getting a few hours of sleep at a time. By going into the year bright eyed and bushy tailed you might even have a more positive freshman experience.
2. Do Laundry Beforehand.
These next few weeks will be extremely busy and no one wants to worry about having clean clothes. By doing all of your laundry at the beginning you can holdout for a little while until life settles down.
3. Stock Up On Healthy(ish) Snacks.
Even though it's tempting to live off of ramen and pop tarts, you probably shouldn't. Having foods like dried fruit or nuts are great snacking options without being extremely unhealthy. Take advantage of your campus meal plan and eat fresh fruits and veggies when you can. If you're a commuter then it's a good idea to keep things such as granola bars in your car instead of going for fast food.
4. Pull Out Your Favorite Fall Outfits!
Wearing next to nothing is great and all but, I love wearing cuddly warm clothing. Flannels are love, flannels are life! The thought of wearing leggings with a flannel and beanie makes me yearn for October. The power of clothing is strange, mere fabric can change our whole attitude or even personality. Break out your favorite fall clothing and get excited for what's to come!
5. Make Memories With Your Best Friends.
It sucks to say that we're becoming adults but it's the truth. College is a fresh start yet that doesn't mean you leave everything else behind. If you're lucky enough to have amazing friendships then try to maintain them, especially you don't go to the same school. Use what's left of summer and just be free. Act like a silly, obnoxious teenager while you still can. These are the memories that you'll look back on and smile.
