5 Upcoming Albums To Give A Listen
The Music Universe

With the halfway point of the year upon us, we have seen a fair share of projects by big name artists. These include albums by Drake, Kanye West, Meghan Trainor and Ariana Grande.

The second half of the year may not bring the same level of names, but that does not make these albums any less exciting.

(Note: These are not in any ranking, they are just five albums.)

5. Blink-182- "California" (July 1)

This wildly popular band is back and many people are excited. On the opposite side, there are the fans of the band that are upset that Tom DeLonge is no longer a part of the band. Whether the fans like it or not, there are going to be decent sales drummed up by this album.

4. MAGIC!- "Primary Colours" (July 1)

The band that brought you hits like "Rude" and "No Way No" are back with their sophomore release. They still pack that reggae/island feel that they are known for and even have a feature with Sean Paul on the upcoming album. This album will be a wonderful addition to any beach parties or chill times you are looking to have.

3. Good Charlotte- "Youth Authority" (July 15)

Another blast from the past band is back. They have brought a little bit more of a pop feel, but have not forgotten to bring that punk attitude. They have currently released four songs from the upcoming project, and are receiving four and a half star reviews on those so far. Take that for what it is worth!

2. Relient K- "Air For Free" (July 22)

This band picked up a decent following when they released the album "MMHMM" in 2004, since then, they kind of faded away. This may not end up being all that big of an album, but it will be worth a listen. It is unclear where exactly this album will go. It could either be a contemporary piece like their recent albums, or could go to a light side like their older works. Song titles include, "Mrs. Hippopotamuses," "Cat," "Man" and "Elephant Parade."

1. Skillet- "Unleashed" (August 5)

Skillet is finally coming out with an album! It is their first one since "Rise" in 2013. "Rise" ended up having a little softer feel than prior Skillet albums, but the song "Feel Invincible" from the new album is back to the hard rock style they were known for. Some of the other song titles seem to hint that a heavy sounding album is in store. Panheads unite!

Remember, this list is not in any ranking! It is just a list by release time.

(Side Note- For those of you with more of a taste for country music, Florida Georgia Line also is supposed to be releasing an album, but no date is yet set.)

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
