You were crowned six months ago. It still seems like it was just yesterday, right? Even though you are halfway through your reign, you still have so much you want to accomplish. Between parades, appearances, community service and advocacy for the pageant system you so proudly represent, you find yourself eager to get involved even more before you pass on the crown. I blinked and before I knew it, my reign as Miss Georgia Forestry will be handed down to another beautiful young woman in only five months! In order to make the most out of your title and support the causes you hold closest to your heart, here are a few ideas for activities you can get involved with to make the most out of the rest of your reign.
1. Research walks and runs in your area to raise awareness for various causes
There are tons of walks and runs befitting various organizations. For instance, Autism Speaks holds annual races every Spring and Summer all over the world. Find a cause that really speaks to you and use your title to raise awareness for the cause and get others involved.
2. Attend grand openings for new businesses
This is a fantastic way to network with local businesses and local consumers. Promoting your title and the pageant system at these events develops leads for potential future sponsors for the pageant and potential contestants. A pageant title is a public relations position as a Teen or Miss queen, so research new businesses opening soon in your area.
3. If you haven't already, create a blog and talk about your experiences as a titleholder
One of the best ways for your friends, family, sponsors, and potential contestants to keep up with what a titleholder does is to make a blog and express your experiences while making appearances and getting involved in the community. It's perfect for logging your memories while also creating a rapport with those who may be interested in competing and those who contribute to the system's success.
4. Reach out to directors of other systems as a potential judge for their pageants
Although pageants are competitive - even between systems - it's important to conduct yourself as a professional. One way to do that is to make yourself available to directors of other pageants as a judge. You already know what pageant judges generally look for (you got the crown, hehe) and taking the time to do so boosts your reputation as a titleholder and a professional.
5. Visit local schools to talk to children about confidence and motivation
Use your title to talk to our future: kids! Not only do most kids love to look at sparkly things (like crowns), they're extremely impressionable. If a queen speaks to them about confidence, motivation, and the importance of education, it is undoubtedly a memory they will always cherish. Most schools are really welcoming when you express your wish to have a good impression on their students.
