5 Things I Have Accomplished

Five things that I am proud of myself for accomplishing within the past year.

As the year comes to an end I am looking back on it and thinking about all that has happened these past twelve months. Although I have done some stupid things during this year, I have also done quite a few things that I am proud of. Here are five things that I am extremely proud of myself for accomplishing.

1. Getting honor roll

This year is byfar the hardest year I have ever taken. I am in five college level courses and two other course on top of that. Even though I am in all of these classes, though, I managed to achieve honor roll, and almost get straight A's.

2. Being accepted into the University of Richmond

This is by far one of my biggest accomplishments. It is one of the most prestigious schools in the state, and in the country. Being accepted into such an amazing school is not only an accomplishment, but a blessing, and I just can not wait to be a student there next fall.

3. Becoming a dog groomer

At my job one of the hardest things to do is groom dogs. We only have about 5 people who do it at my job, including myself and my manager. To become a dog groomer I went through two weeks of training with my manager joined at my hip. Once that period was over I officially became a bather/brusher, and a great one at that. My manager compliments me on it all of the time and I get tips every now and then. Also, my manager schedules me for grooming when she is not there because she trusts me more than our other bather/brusher.

4. Being a Junior Marshal

Towards the end of my junior year I was named a junior marshal. A junior marshal is someone in the top 20 of to class who helps out with the senior activities. Since I was tenth in my class and my boyfriend was a senior last spring when I was nominated to be one I kindly accepted this prestigious offer. I am so proud that I was even asked to be one, and I am proud that I have kept my rank about the same since being named one.

5. Becoming more outgoing

This is something that I need to thank my extremely outgoing boyfriend for. When I first met him I was outrageously shy and would just keep to myself around anyone except for my closest friends. Once I sarted dating him 2 year ago that slowly changed, but recently it has been showing a lot more. I am more outgoing when it comes to talking to customers at my job and when it comes to participating in class. Both of those have helped me to succeed as a worker and as a student.

I am extremely proud of myself for achieving all of these things even though some of them did happen with a little help. Also, because I have reached these high points I feel as though I am ready for success in the real world.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
