Chick Flicks are gooey and sometimes unrealistic, but they are heart-clenching nonetheless. No matter how much you want to make fun of them, you are a chick flick lover and it's completely okay. Yes they have similar tropes ("Small town girl trying to make it in the big city" or "Good girl falls for the bad boy") and maybe you set unrealistic standards for men or women because of them (Ryan Gosling personally ruined me), but Chick Flicks are perfect when you want "me" time. Allowing yourself to indulge in sweets with a bathrobe, face mask and fuzzy slippers while watching an emotionally sappy film makes the whole experience worthwhile. It's the only time you can be a hot emotional mess and not give one flying hoot.
