Let’s be honest. Heading back to school after spring break is a very dark time. Whether you went on a tropical vacation or had a relaxing staycation with your bed and Netflix, it was a grand time you never wanted to end. Sadly reality has struck and you must now return to your normal, kind of adult life. Back to classes and work and all the daily struggles you’ve been putting off for the last week. You can do it! Only a few more weeks and it’ll be summer. Whoo!

1. Ugh.

2. UGH

3. Why am I back in this hellhole?

4. I thought I cleaned my room.

5. What is that smell?

6. I should probably unpack

7. Or not.

8. Oh hello wonderful humans I must return to sharing a room with!

9. I guess having to come back justifies eating ice cream.

10. It was traumatic walking up all those stairs. You earned it.

11. What classes do I even have tomorrow?

12. What classes am I even taking this semester?

13. Eh. Any professor who gives homework over break is a jerk anyway.

14. Alright, time to unpack for real.

15. Wait I should go make sure my friends had a good break.

16. I'm just being a good friend! I'm not lazy.

17. Great. I totally had homework

18. I have to wake up earlier than I've gone to bed all week.

19. This is horrific

20. I should just drop out.

21. I can major in watching Netflix

22. What a thrilling life!

23. Totally forgot to text my mom that I'm alive.

24. I'm the worst child ever.

25. Maybe I should skip my first class tomorrow.

26. I could say I was away and my flight got delayed.

27. Maybe classes won't be too hard!

28. Midterms just happened, what could they possibly quiz us on.

29. Professors should know we're all a hot mess minus the hot.

30. Unpack!

31. OMG did I forget my charger at home?

32. S#!t s#!t s#!t s#!t!!

33. Oh nope it's right here. Crisis averted!

34. Well, now that I've wasted two hours I should probably do something productive.

35. You know what, you should go to bed early.

36. Gotta be up early. This will start the week off well!

37. Unpack tomorrow! Your clothes aren't going anywhere.

38. So glad I won't be able to sleep considering I woke up at 1:00 p.m. all week and it's 11:00 p.m.

39. Welp, I tried.

40. Back to "Gilmore Girls."

41. College is the best.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
