40 Thoughts Every Fairfield Student Has Coming Back To School

Mom and Dad have dropped you off, your room is somewhat coming together, and you’ve had one too many girly screams reuniting with all your friends who you haven’t seen all summer.

You’re ready to kick of the new school year strong with high hopes for becoming smarter, eating healthier and having great times with your friends.

Yet everyone seems to have those same thoughts that nag them in the back of their head. Here are a few that every college student coming back to school knows all too well:

1. This is gonna be my year, I’m calling it now.

2. I’m going to get more involved, I’m actually going to open my textbook before finals, and my room is gonna look awesome (shout-out to Pinterest for giving me inspiration).

3. Oh, a picture fell. That’s OK, just stick it back on.

4. Oh, there goes a poster ...

5. Now the Christmas lights ... Are you kidding?

6. UGH, IT’S SO HOT IN MY ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!! (Shout-out to Faber and The Village for having AC.-)

7. Alright, alright, it’s all good. I’ll just wait until it cools off (which will be when pigs fly).

8. Wait, why is my roommate's stuff sticking to the walls?

9. No seriously, what did she use? Super Glue?

10. All this heat is stressing me out. I need Barone ASAP.

11. Did I just say I need Barone? I must have really missed this place.

12. YES! Friends, food and AC ... what a combo.

13. Wait, what? Why does Barone look so different?

14. Dammit, I look like a freshman. I have no idea where anything is.

15. Why why WHY did I come at 6:30 p.m.? That’s prime dinner time.

16. SO MANY PEOPLE OMG WHY.

17. Wow, so not mentally, emotionally or physically ready for classes at all this week.

18. I really hope I don’t have the crazy professors.

19. How do you even hold a pencil?

20. Did I bring my backpack from home?

21. LOL what even are textbooks, and why do they cost my life savings?

22. I wonder if my RA’s chill? Guess I’ll find that out at the floor meeting.

23. Crap, I need to think of an “interesting” fact.

24. How do you even describe “interesting”?

25. I like food??? Is that "interesting"?

26. Can it just be tonight already?

27. WAIT, what do I even wear? I lived in T-shirts this summer.

28. Alright I look half decent ... Let’s get SLLY!!!!!!!!!

29. SO MANY FRESHMEN ON THE QUAD.

30. OMG MORE PEOPLE I HAVEN’T SEEN ALL SUMMER!

31. Crap, I have class tomorrow ... better set the alarm now.

32. It’s only 10:30 p.m. Why am I so tired??

33. Is it too soon to order Domino's?

34. Yes, way too early to order Domino's ...

35. Alright I’m so tired, and I have a 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.

36. Bye friends, going to bed. We have so many more nights to go out.

37. Ah, yes, makeup off.

38. But I can’t snuggle under the covers because I may get a heatstroke.

39. I’ll snuggle with my fan? #BAE

40. It’s gonna be a great year.

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
