40 Random Acts Of Kindness
Greer Hanes

When you live in a world that is negative, and quite frankly crappy at times, it is difficult to remember to spread kindness back into the world. It is easy to forget that little, random acts of kindness can go such a long way. These acts of kindness can turn anyone's day around. So, the next time you're out and about, try one of these out and see how you positively impact those around you.

1. Hold the door open for someone.
2. Smile at a stranger.
3. Pay for the person's coffee/meal that is behind you in line.
4. Let someone into the drive thru line.
5. Ask someone how they are doing or how their day has been.
6. Pick up trash when you see it.
7. Call your parents. It'll make their day.
8. Leave a penny face-side up for someone.
9. Give someone a high five.
10. Pay your friend or a stranger a compliment.
11. Hug someone.
12. Donate to your favorite charity.
13. Leave notes of encouragement in public for others to find.
14. Be polite on the road.
15. Always tip your server (and if they're especially awesome, then tip them as much as you can afford to).
16. Give away your parking spot.
17. Donate your stuff that you don't use anymore.
18. Bake someone cookies or a cake.
19. Bring donuts to your workplace for everyone.
20. Put your phone away while having a conversation with someone.
21. Offer a homeless person your leftovers from a restaurant.
22. Stop and have a conversation with a homeless person.
23. Leave your magazine or newspaper behind in a public place for someone else to read.
24. Put extra change in the parking meter for someone.
25. Put a tip in the tip jar the next time you're at a coffee shop.
26. Try to make sure everyone feels included in your next group conversation.
27. Compliment a parent's child; it means a lot to them!
28. Make a Spotify playlist for your friend to let them know you were thinking about them.
29. Adopt a pet from an animal shelter.
30. Write your significant other a list of things you love about them just because.
31. Send dessert to a random table at a restaurant.
32. Give up your seat for someone on the subway.
33. Be encouraging to your friends.
34. Wash someone's car (with their consent)!
35. Try to carpool the next time you have to drive somewhere because it's important to be kind to the earth, too.
36. The next time you see a little kid's lemonade stand, buy one from them! That'll just make their day.
37. Help someone out if it looks like they have heavy things to carry.
38. Try babysitting for free the next time you babysit for a single mom.
39. Always be kind to customer service reps, because most of the time your problem is not their fault.
40. Pay yourself any type of self-affirmation; you deserve kindness, too!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
