Life is all about the little things that make you smile. Sometimes, when you’re in a low place, all you need to think of is the simple things that make you happy for no reason.

This is for those days where you can’t seem to find any sunlight in the clouds. This is for when you’re having the worst day possible and can’t find any good in anything.

This is to remind those of you who are in bad places in your lives that there is plenty of good things in life, and you can find happiness in the smallest of things.

1. Coffee!

2. Naps!

3. Beach days; feeling sunkissed and tired from just sitting on the beach all day!

4. Sunsets!

5. Sunrises!

6. Singing along to some good tunes in the car with your closest friends!

7. Finishing a really good book that you wish never ended!

8. Those nights with your friends where you talk about everything and open up about things you’ve never opened up about!

9. Road trips!

10. Watching your friends achieve their goals in life and fall in love!

11. Bonfires!

12. Taking pictures in cool, new places!

13. Musicals!

14. Baking (even if you’re bad at it)!

15. Getting a new foundation!

16. Blasting music with some poppin’ bass while driving!

17. Movie nights!

18. Hot cocoa on a cold night!

19. Fresh sheets!

20. Realizing you’re falling in love again!

21. Telling the people you love that you love them!

22. The first kiss with someone you’ve been dying to kiss!

23. Butterflies!

24. Text messages from unexpected people!

25. Ice cream!

26. Meeting new people!

27. When random strangers compliment something about you or your outfit!

28. Complimenting a stranger!

29. Friendships that are bursts of positivity!

30. Realizing how great the people in your life are and how much you adore them!

31. Waiting for something you’re excited about!

32. Watching a really good movie for the first time!

33. Discovering new songs that put your thoughts into words!

34. Getting new lotions and perfumes!

35. Nights where the sky is full of stars!

36. Freshly shaving your entire body!

37. Reaching a goal that you worked so hard for!

38. Nights where you have no homework!

39. Laughing so hard your sides hurt!

40. Realizing that you’ll be okay!

Even when there are days where going on with life seems impossible and there aren't any reasons to be happy, I promise that there are so many beautiful things about life.

There are thousands of good things in life and there are always reasons to live.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
