We have all been there. You are stressed, freaking out, feeling lazy and everything is going wrong. Yoga is a great way for everything to slow down. The movements allow you to focus on yourself and the breathing helps you focus on processing through all of the stressful moments.

InBalance Yoga

This is a local yoga studio that is located at 1512 N. Main Street Blacksburg, VA 24060. This has been my ultimate favorite spot to practice yoga. Their studio is huge and there is a ton of space for you and all of your friends to join in. If you are stressing for finals or even just stressing about paying your rent, there is a class here for you! There is aerial yoga, where you practice yoga while suspended in the air. Hot yoga is when the room temperature goes up to about 98 degrees and is perfect if you need to sweat out all of the stress. There is also a stretching class offered, basic flow classes, and even pilates classes.

I highly recommend the “community classes.” InBalance offers a few of these classes a week where you can go to that particular class for FREE! It is definitely worth it!

Yoga Club at Virginia Tech

Yoga club is a very easy way to get involved with other people that love yoga in the community. They practice several times and even go to the “goat yoga” events on campus. This club takes a ton of members and the dues are very small! It is very easy to get involved!

Drillfield

Whether it is on a warm day (probably not a snowy day) and you are trying to de-stress, or you are just bored and want to watch people walk across the Drillfield, you can do yoga on the Drillfield. I have done this a few times during sunset and it is beautiful! The way the sun hits the pylons is truly on my Hokie Bucket list! This experience helped me start to focus on myself and not worry about what others thought about me while I was on campus.

I used to care that I may look odd practicing yoga by myself on the Drillfield. However, several people came up to me and commented on how they wanted to join me!

McComas and War

McComas and War offer a few yoga classes a week for students to quickly get a yoga practice in during stressful times of the semester. These are great if you are studying, or procrastinating, in the library and you an hour away from looking at notes. You only need to purchase a fitness pass from the gym in order to join and sign up. These classes are generally not very busy and you only have to bring a bottle of water! The yoga classes that are offered are general classes, but it is still a great way to fix your stress!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
