The New Year has finally arrived, as has the expectation to choose some good resolutions. There are many resolutions that people choose each year but don't follow through with. Part of the problem is people choosing too many resolutions at once or not easing into the one you've chosen. Here are a few resolutions anyone could manage so long as you don't overload yourself!

1. Getting Fit

One of the more popular resolutions each is year is getting fit. While this is an admirable resolution, it can also be difficult to maintain, especially if you don't ease into it. The biggest mistake that many people make is going to the gym to get a membership, using it every day for a week or two, then wasting money for the rest of the year as they never return. A simple way to avoid this could be to start your workout small. With a simple Google search, you can find tons of quick and easy workouts that you can do from the comfort of your own home. Start out easy and work your way up. A few crunches, some push-ups, some planking and some squats right when you wake up or shortly before bed. This way, you get your workout in, create a routine that fits simply into your life and you don't waste all of that money up front.

2. Eating Healthier

This is a resolution I'm confident most have tried and many have failed at. Once again, it's all about pacing yourself. You don't have to dive in head first to be successful. Sometimes, baby steps are the way to get to your ultimate goal of being a healthy eater. You just have to work your way up to that by making conscious steps to eat healthier. Start off by replacing some of your fav unhealthy snacks with healthier options, then try to go from eating fast food every day to cooking 1-3 times a week. You don't have to completely overhaul your life to get to where you want to be. You can take steps to get yourself there.

3. Reading More

One of the things that becomes harder as you get older is to set aside the time to read, especially with the internet at our fingertips constantly. Between Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, Netflix, Hulu and the like, it can be difficult to tear yourself away to read a book or magazine, no matter how much you love reading. One way to change that is to simply unplug. You can choose a specific time of day or a lot a certain amount of time per week but the best way to find time to read is to make time to read. Some people may overwhelm themselves thinking they need to unplug completely to get back into reading but you just need to set aside a few minutes a day. Another way to jump back into the habit is to join or start a book club. This way you have a level of accountability as others await a discussion with you. As long as you're willing to actively make time to read, this a resolution anyone can tackle that will likely make you happy throughout the year.

4. Practicing More Self-Care

As we get older, life can be a bit more stressful. So, practicing self care is becoming a more prominent New Year's resolution. Some people get ahead of themselves thinking they need to buy all the things to practice self-care. Many think you need to buy bath bombs, get weekly massages, shell out money for the best manicures, or whatever trendy self-care practices are making the rounds. This isn't true. Self-care is specific to each and every person. Some people need to pamper themselves, some prefer to read, others just need some dim lighting and some good tunes. Self-care can be anything you want it to be. It doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg and doesn't have to be very time consuming. For these reasons, practicing self-care more often is a good resolution to make. Plus, it'll improve your sense of calm and your overall health. Treat yo' self!

Whatever resolution(s) you choose this year, be sure to ease your way in and don't get overwhelmed. Baby steps are the way to go. Consitency and patience will get you to your end goal!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
