Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, typical summer jobs for students and young adults may not be readily available this year. Fortunately, there will still be ways to make money over summer break. Here are just a few of your options.
Find An Available Job
Your first option is to look for a job at businesses that are open over the summer. Businesses such as fast food restaurants, big box stores, grocery stores and some others are certain to remain open, and others may stay open as well depending on how the situation changes. You can job hunt simply by looking at the businesses that are open in your area and following their application process.
Sell Old Possessions
Selling stuff you no longer want is an old standby and a great way to make money over the summer. You have several options. You can list these items on online selling sites such as eBay or Amazon. For local sales, you can use Craigslist. You can also sell to companies that will buy your things with no fuss. For example, you can google search "buy my junk car" to find companies who will buy and sell it for parts.
Online Work
Now would be an excellent time to start doing freelance work online. Doing so can teach you valuable skills regarding your chosen industry, about working in customer service and many of the varied aspects of running a business. There are plenty of job opportunities online, including in writing, accounting, customer service, data entry, graphic design, programming, marketing, teaching, and more. You can do this work as preparation for a full-time job later or as a hobby. You may even discover you like it enough and are successful enough to start your own business.
An Internship
An internship may be more difficult to obtain in the near future than usual depending on how long businesses and schools remain shut down or virtual due to COVID-19, but it may still be possible. Getting an internship is one of the most advantageous ways to spend your time over the summer because not only will you make money but you will also be gaining valuable experience and contacts that can help you get a good job in your industry upon graduation.
There will still be plenty of options for making money this summer in spite of the state of the world. Look into your options and decide which ones you would like best to pursue. Having extra money never hurts.
