There are few things in the world that could make you have one of the worst college experiences during your four years at higher education. And one of them is specifically being a terrible resident to your resident advisor. Now the RA's responsibility is not to be a complete cop to the people we are advising, instead we are there to make sure it's a livable and welcoming community for any and all types of people. But if there is a violation of rules that the school has to uphold, then be prepared to be written, sorry documented, for your actions.
1.Please just eat the food a RA gives you.
It is so awkward when you have a floor meeting and none of your residents take the mini cupcakes that were left for them during the first floor meeting. Not only will you guys not get food from me anymore, but the cupcakes were wasted.
2.Floor Meetings
Please attend floor meetings when they are scheduled. It becomes really hard and stressful when residents ditch the meeting and important information has to be said. So when I have to personally hunt you down because you decided to skip a 5 minute meeting, life becomes hell.
3.Do not be afraid
If you want to do something irresponsible or dumb, please just do it outside the building. We want the best for all of our residents, but it is natural for people to want to try new things. But the second that the irresponsibility comes back into the building, that puts other people in danger, not just yourself.
4.Never be scared to approach us
My door is always open. Whether it be physically closed or open, I'm always here to speak if there are any issues. But I can't know if there are any issues unless I'm told.
There are few things that make a RA mad, but always be a positive spark of energy and I'll most likely be a nice RA to you.
