December is finally here, and now it's truly beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

In the midst of Christmas songs gracing radio stations 24/7 and people frantically putting up their Christmas trees and jolly decorations, it's also time to start thinking about what presents to get for your loved ones.

If you're already stressed and nervously eying your bank account balance, below are a couple methods that will help you cruise through the holiday season.

1. Sale, sales, sales.

It's the most wonderful time of year for stores everywhere to slash their prices and stuff their clearance racks. While this means great deals for everyone, it also means that there's a slew of affordable Christmas presents waiting to be bought.

If you have the patience for it (and exceptional hiding skills), I'd recommend staying ahead of the curve by buying most, if not all, of your Christmas presents online during those huge Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.

2. Make it a group effort.

Want to get someone something really special but simply can't afford it? Ask their friends and/or family to help pitch in. The more, the merrier (and cheaper).

Not only will your giftee end up with a great gift, but this sort of teamwork mentality helps take the burden off of those who are not the gift-giving type or are clueless as to what to get someone.

3. Just ask them what they want.

If you find that you are that clueless person mentioned in the last point, but don't want to team up with people, you can ask your giftee what they want.

It might feel weird, or somehow be evidence that you don't know a person well enough, but that's not true and it's worth a shot either way.

Some people simply don't like surprises or have things in mind that they really need. You can tell them that you're not sure what to get them, but you have x amount to spare. They can reply with something an item off the top of your head, or, if you give them the time, they can compile a wishlist that fits within your budget.

It's both practical and meaningful for you and your giftee.

4. When in doubt, DIY.

Flashy presents are nice, but nothing really beats something made with your own two hands. DIY gifts hold a lot of sentimental value because they show thought, love and care.

You don't have to be a crafts expert to make a great DIY gift. They can be something as simple as repurposing old t-shirts or decorating a mug.

No matter the project you decide to take on, the internet is your friend.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
