We are now in the midst of summer break and I can bet you are wondering what I mean by “wasting summer break.” How can you even do such a thing?! Well I am here to tell you it is totally possible to let your summer break waste away! But have no fear because doing these four things can help you put a stop to all this wasting of SUMMER!

1. Get a job.

No matter the size of the job, having one is a great idea, especially during summertime, if you do not already have one. There are a couple benefits of having a job. You get to make money so you can have a little fun (and hopefully save some), you have less time to get bored, you earn a good work ethic, and it gets you up and out of the house most days (which I heard is better for you than laying on the couch in the dark). So, get out there and fill out some apps and get yourself a little summer job!

2. Organize.

From organizing your school stuff to organizing your closet, you can never do too much organizing! The summer is a great refresher to get all of your things back in order. So pick up a new planner and some shelves and baskets and get BUSY. Enter all your important dates into your planner and start looking at your school schedule. Gather any supplies you might need for the new semester and pack up your backpack for the first day of school. Organize your clothes by season for easy access year round (since our weather is completely unpredictable). Get a bookshelf so you have one place to gather and organize all your books. Go through your room organizing and throwing out, and use your summer break as a spring cleaning.

3. Keep up with school.

Enroll in your fall classes, check up on your FASFA process, sell or save your used books, start looking at what new books you need to purchase, clean out your backpack and get fresh supplies, and make sure everything is in order for your upcoming semester.

4. Have some “me time.”

Take some time for yourself. Find some fun hobbies to help you enjoy yourself, such as trying out new recipes, painting a few pictures, visiting a local park and taking a hike out on a trail, try out some new exercises, read new novels, or just go to the mall and get yourself a new outfit (or ten). Whatever it is, make it fun and make it something that will help you relax.

Thinking of your summer break as a personal refresher is a great way to start making it count. So if your summer is starting to bum you out, begin by doing at least one of these four things and I promise you will be feeling refreshed in no time.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
