4 Ways to Get Fit This Summer!
@AmandaBisk

It's summertime, and you know what that means. Bikinis, fruity drinks, pool parties, and days lounging in the sun at the beach. In my experience, I have found that when you feel your best, you're bound to have more confidence and more fun. So without further ado, here are 4 ways to get in shape this summer!

I just want to make a note before I begin. I believe that every body is beautiful. It does not matter how much you weigh -- what is important is that you keep your body strong and healthy. That means eating properly and staying active (and as someone who is admittedly extremely lazy and has a massive sweet tooth, I know how hard it can be). Your body is your temple, so treat it well while you're young, and it will thank you when you're older. Let us begin!

1. Soft (deep) Sand Running

Personally, I am not a big fan of running in general. But if you live by the beach, this is an amazing work out, not to mention you'll have quite the view! While regular jogging/running burns around 700 to 900 calories for the average person, soft sand running burns double that. The deeper the sand you run in, the more challenging the exercise. It works all the muscles in your legs, as well as your core. Also, it is amazing for cardio and helps your heart work more efficiently. Have you ever wondered why runners are so lean? It is because running burns unhealthy fat like crazy! If you're just beginning to run, start off on wetter sand or on a path. Also, be sure to not overexert yourself, as that can lead to serious injuries.

2. Hiking

What better time to take a hike with your family and friends than summertime? It's warm, the days are longer, and the possibilities are endless. Hiking has plenty of benefits, especially if you are not particularly sporty or athletic. Hiking is a powerful cardio workout and studies have found that it can: help control your weight, lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels, lower your risk of heart disease, boost your mood, strengthen your core, and improve balance. So get out there, and enjoy the views and the smell of nature.

3. Swimming

Ahhh swimming, my personal favorite form of exercise. I've swam for years, and I always feel a lot better after a good workout. Swimming is said to be one of the best forms of exercise. It works every muscle in your body, and is an amazing cardio workout. It is a total-body routine that burns a TON of calories, as well as strengthen your core, and boost your metabolism. Swimming is joint-friendly, a great way to cross-train, refreshing, and it doesn't require any fancy equipment. Not to mention, being in the pool and/or the ocean will help you get your tan on!

4. Yoga

Yoga is one of my favorite forms of exercise. I always come out of it feeling better than when I came in. Many people think that yoga is a wimpy exercise or a "girl sport" (which in my opinion is the stupidest thing ever). Yoga can be very, very hard! There are some poses I've seen professionals do that I could never imagine doing. Yoga is relaxing, a great workout, and helps balance your mind, body, and spirit. It counts as a cardio workout, and there are TONS of different types of yoga you can choose from! In my experience, I have found that yoga is one of the best stress relievers. Namasté!

So there you have it. 4 ways to get fit this summer! Of course, there are MANY other forms of exercise you can do! So get out there and get moving!

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
