You've moved back home and as excited as you are to see your friends from high school, work, etc you start to miss your friends from college. The late night Waffle House and El Maz runs, the crazy conversations until 2 am, and the constant thought of having the other people to lean on. With these times running through your head, it is hard to not miss them a little bit. Here are four ways to help with the pain of missing your best friends.

1. Make Plans!

The biggest and best thing you can do is make some plans to see one another! Plan to spend the night or weekend with your friends, out doing fun stuff that will only create more memories and then spend some much needed alone time with them! Go to the zoo, catch a movie, and go back and sit in your pjs for hours and just talk.

2. Facetime.

Facetime is seriously one of the best inventions of the 21st century (excluding hoverboards, of course). There is nothing quite like going from faceless texting to actually seeing your best friend again! Of course it is still through a screen but it's better than nothing! For the friends who live forever and a day away from one another, facetime is a savior!

3. Include them in your lives, even from far away.

Even though they can't be here to be your shoulder to cry on, call that person and tell them about that rude guy at work, that cute boy who walked past you on the street or the latest gossip from your home town. They probably won't have the slightest idea who you're talking about but they'll love that you've thought to call and give them all the details.

4. Don't rush going back to college.

As exciting it may seem, the times at home with old friends and with your parents is just as memorable and irreplaceable as the fun times at college. Don't rush seeing your friends and forget to see your home. Have fun with friends, go see a movie with old girl friends and catch up, go out to eat lunch with your grandmother, have fun in the moment and don't rush the future. You won't regret it!

So while you're missing your best friend from an hour away or six hours away, these points will help you to cope with the distance. Call, text, Skype, Facetime as much as you can to pass the days but never forget to live in the moment and cherish each day!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
