Christmas is a magical time of year. Holiday lights are popping up in towns, tree lightings are happening, and Christmas movies and television specials are constantly on TV. There are so many great Christmas movies and shows, like "Elf", "The Polar Express", "A Year Without a Santa Claus", and "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer". But there are a few movies that I absolutely love that are not given enough TV time.
Here is my list of Christmas movies that deserve more recognition.
1. "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"
Based off the classic Christmas song "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer", this TV special follows a young boy, named Jake Spankenheimer, who is on a mission to find his missing grandmother who he claims have been run over by Santa's reindeer. Meanwhile, his money-hungry Cousin Mel takes advantage of Grandma's disappearance to sell the family business and ends up putting Santa Claus on trial!
2. "Buster & Chauncey's Silent Night"
This movie follows two storylines. The first one is about two mice and their adventures in Oberndorf. With the Queen arriving shortly, Buster's only desire is to play for the Queen and to make a lot of money, whereas Chauncey just wants to make music for enjoyment.
The second storyline is about an orphan girl named Christina. She is asked to stay in the church for the holiday season, and during her stay, two thieves show up claiming to be apart of the Queen's security. Christina soon finds herself to be the scapegoat of the thieves' wrongful deeds. The two plots eventually join together and, with the help of Buster and Chauncey, everything works out in the end.
3. "Annabelle's Wish"
In "Annabelle's Wish", all the animals on the farm get one night to be able to talk because of Santa's magic. Annabelle, a cow, mentions that she wants to be a reindeer when she grows up, so she holds onto that wish. She soon befriends a mute boy named Billy and realizes that maybe she wants more in life than to be a reindeer. This movie shows how the magic of Christmas and friendship can lead to wonderful things.
4. "Twas the Night Before Christmas"
Santa Claus sends all the mail he got from Junctionville this holiday season back to them because he received a letter from someone in this town claiming that he does not exist. Upset by this, a clock-maker makes their town clock play music so that Santa does not pass them by this Christmas Eve. The clock breaks because Albert, the mouse, wanted to see how it worked. Confessing all of his mistakes, Albert tries to repair the clock, but fails to fix it by the deadline, so will Santa even come to Junctionville this year?
