It is that time of the school year again where it seems like everyone has lost the motivation to do anything school related. Spring semester is especially tough because we don’t have nearly as many breaks, and if you are taking summer classes there is no month long break anytime soon to look forward to. With nothing to look forward to, it can be hard to feel motivated to do any of your work and easy to slip into a pattern of not doing work. So here are some tips that might make it just a little easier to get through the last few weeks of the semester.

1. Be Realistic

As important as it is to dream big when you are determining your day to day goals it might want to remember to be realistic. Making realistic goals instead of lofty ones not only mean that you are more likely to accomplish them but it makes it easier to strive towards these goals because you believe that there is actually a chance that you will complete them.

2. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Universities have countless different resources that are in place to help you succeed academically and especially when you feel like you are lacking motivation, you should use them! For example, if you have a large essay due, try doing it a little earlier than you normally would and turn it into the universities grammar of writing center so you can get feedback. In addition to this as the semester goes on tests tend to get more difficult so remember that there is no shame is seeking out help. This can be in the form of going to the professor's office hours to ask questions or going to a tutor.

3. Find people who inspire you.

It is often times said that who you choose to spend your time with says a lot about who you are and this is no different with school. Even if you feel unmotivated or lacking in inspiration, surrounding yourself with people who challenge you and encourage you to do and be better can help a lot. Surrounding yourself with other people who are skipping class and not working towards their goals will only make you think that it is okay for you to do the same.

4. Remember why you are doing what you are doing.

If you are in school the chances are that you are working towards a larger goal and towards having a career that you are passionate about. When school gets tough, it is important to remember the end goal and remember that all the work that you are doing now will be worth it when you get to do what you love for the rest of your life.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
