College students, we are almost there! Winter break is approaching and sadly, so are finals. During this time, many students may be feeling stressed and overwhelmed. With a few weeks left to work on final projects and less time to study for harsh finals, it's normal for us to feel this way. Here are a few tips to succeed these last few weeks of school:
1. Do One Thing at a Time:
A calculus test, a humanities project, a paper on the Civil War, these are just a few examples of the assignments us college students have to do in a few weeks. Just remember to do one thing at a time. Remember to prioritize: Which assignment is due first and which one will take the longest to complete? Keep a planner or write down your assignments on a calendar to make it easier. Once you're done with one assignment, move on to the next one.
2. Take a Break:
Don't overwork yourself. When you're feeling stressed and can't think of anything else to write, don't force it. When there's a block in your creativity it's going to be really hard to create. Take short 15 minutes breaks. Eat a snack or watch an episode of your favorite show on Netflix. If you're a chocolate lover like me, eat a chocolate bar or ice cream. Take a walk outside and start thinking of ideas what to write. If you're tired, take a short nap or rest. Once you're body and mind are rested, you'll be able to create a masterpiece.
3. Do Extra Credit Assignments:
Extra credit has saved my grades in multiple occasions. Many professors offer extra credit. Most of the time, they will be short and easy assignments that are worth a few points. A few points will go a long way if your grade is on the borderline. If they are bigger assignments, they will take a little more effort to complete but might be worth a lot more points. If your professor hasn't offered any extra credit assignments, talk to them. The worst that can happen is that they will tell you no. If they say yes, thank them and get started immediately to show them you appreciate the opportunity.
4.Don't Lose Faith In Yourself
During finals week, many students will begin doubting themselves. Thoughts such as why am I so terrible at math or why didn't I try harder will cross your mind. The most important thing to remember is to always do your best. When you graduate, employers won't be looking at your GPA. They will be checking your resume for experience, internships, achievements, etc. If our don't get the grade you want, don't worry. A bad grade is no reason to lose faith in yourself.
So go ahead and ace those finals! You're going to do great! ☺️
