4 Tips For Studying A Language
Kanji

Hello! I'm back with another article, but this time it's more school related. I will be giving you tips on how to learn a new language. Learning a new language is never easy, especially when it uses symbols as it's main form of writing. Currently I am learning Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese, but I spend more time learning Japanese to the point where I could have a conversation in Japanese and write basic things. I will tell you how I study these languages.

1. Text In That Language

Every young person these days is pretty much always on their phone texting. Young people these days around my age seem to text more than talk. It is easier to pick up on the language if you constantly text in that language. Text friends and family in that language, update your blog or Facebook in that language, etc. Any type of texting will do. This method helps you get used to that language better since you are using it constantly. That is how I learned Japanese to the point of being able to write and text in that language.

2. Talk With A Friend Who Knows That Language

If your friend happens to know that language or you have a penpal that knows that language, ask them to help you out. You could also talk and have conversations with that person in their native language. Talking in that language is actually one of the best ways to pick up on that language. It forces you to have to think of what to say back in that language.

3. Watch TV/Listen To Music In That Language

Fully immersing yourself in things that revolve around that language is a plus. It helps you to get a concept of it. When I was learning Japanese, I watched dramas/anime in Japanese and listened to Japanese music. Doing this really helps you pick up on the speed of the language. Knowing the speed of the language(the natural pace of the language) is a plus and helps when you are speaking to anyone that speaks that language. You can also learn new words when listening to music or watching tv and that language and you can google it, or ask your friend about it. Learning new words is a big step in learning any language.

4. Flashcards

Flash cards or quizlet help me when I am studying anything, especially a language. You can even get someone to quiz you with the flashcards. If you keep looking over these flashcards and practicing the way in which to use the words on the flashcard, you will better remember these words. Using flashcards is pretty much all about memory and remembering the terms and how to use these terms.

These are my 4 ways to study a language. I hope you enjoyed this and Good Luck studying!!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
