4 Times Netflix Broke My Heart In 2016

It's one thing to take away my rom-coms. It's another to take away my Disney movies.

All great things must come to an end. Netflix is no exception. If you're like me, you like to get your classic movie fix by Netflix binging every once in a while (or every night). The best movies to binge on are the ones that take you back to your childhood. But what happens when Netflix gets rid of those movies? What do you do, then? Does the world end? I'm here to tell you that the world won't end. How do I know this? Because Netflix has ripped my heart out on four different occasions this year but we're all still alive.

1. "Atlantis: The Lost Empire"

Now, if you've never seen this move, do it. I would say you could watch it on Netflix, but, oh wait, you can't anymore. This movie has captured my heart over and over again. The adventure-filled plot always put me back in my childhood and made me want to go out and explore a cave or climb a tree. The characters gave me courage and inspired me to go outside of my comfort zone. "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" was removed from Netflix on March 1, 2016.

2. "101 Dalmatians"

Who doesn't love this classic Disney animation filled with 101 dalmatians and the terrible Cruella Deville? Through a bunch of spotted puppies, Disney shows us the importance of family and sticking together. Together, our spotted friends warm our hearts with a tail of what it truly means to stick together when you're in a ruff spot. "101 Dalmatians" was removed from Netflix on April 1, 2016.

3. "Hercules"

He went from zero to hero. But not without a lot of help from his mentor and trusty steed. We can all learn a lesson from this touching movie. No matter how big our obstacles may be, we can make it through them with a little help from our friends. "Hercules" was removed from Netflix on June 1, 2016.

4. "Mulan"

Now, on to the moment that shattered my heart beyond repair: the discontinuation of "Mulan." Mulan is among one of the most empowering role models for young millennial women. By defeating societal norms and standing up for her father, Mulan shows us all that all it takes is a dragon, a cricket and a lot of courage to stand up for what we believe is right. She doesn't let her anatomy get in the way of saving China from the Huns. Mulan shows us all that women are just as useful as men and put gender-norms to shame. "Mulan" was removed from Netflix on June 24, 2016.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
