2016 was a rough year. Let's not talk about it. Will 2017 be the same? No one knows. But one thing we do know is that there's plenty of stuff going down this year that will make 2017 worth it!

1. Movies

The movie lineup for 2017 looks amazing. Several beloved movie franchises are getting new installments this year, such as Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, Wolverine, Alien, Thor, John Wick, Planet of the Apes, Cars, Kingsman and Pirates of the Caribbean (to name a few). Audiences are also getting brand new movies that they've always wanted (or never knew they wanted until now), such as Spider-Man, Justice League, Wonder Woman, Lego Batman, a live-action Beauty and the Beast, Baywatch, King Arthur and Power Rangers. By the looks of it, 2017 will have loads of brand new movies that everyone will enjoy. Just the thought of a new Star Wars movie makes my wallet tingle.

2. Music

Music is a matter of taste. Everyone has specific genres of music that appeal to them. Whether you're a fan of hip-hop, a rocker, or a popper, 2017 will provide lots of new albums to quench your thirst for new tunes. Big names such as Drake, Nine Inch Nails, Blondie, U2, Depeche Mode, Jay Z, Beck, Charlie XCX, Bruce Springsteen and Eminem will be releasing new albums for their dedicated fanbases. Lots of new songs will be popping up on radio stations worldwide.

3. TV Shows

Several critically-acclaimed shows will still be going strong in 2017, with new seasons right around the corner. Shows such as Game of Thrones, Blacklist, Walking Dead, Stranger Things, Supernatural, The Flash and Arrow will be releasing brand new episodes for your enjoyment. Whether you watch television, Netflix, or both, you can definitely expect new episodes of all your favorite shows. And let's not forget the new shows coming out, such as the new Star Trek Discovery series, or the Wizard of Oz inspired Emerald City, or the new Marvel series The Iron Fist. Grab your blankets and let the binge watching begin.

4. Video Games

This is my personal favorite. Video games are a massive market, and 2017 will be the year of several brand new games, such as a new Mass Effect game, Resident Evil, Tom Clancy, Injustice, Red Dead Redemption and more. Also, Nintendo will be releasing a revolutionary new system called the Switch, along with awesome new games, like the long-awaited Legend of Zelda game and a new Mario game. 2017 will be a spectacular year for gamers, young and old.

2017 looks promising. No matter what happens this year, we can all find comfort by watching our new superhero movies, listening to some new Drake tracks and playing some Zelda. Sounds like a good year to me.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

Find excitement in your life and start exploring wherever you are right here, right now.

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
