The holidays are effing awesome. Like Thanksgiving, its a time for eating, effing conquering, feeling defeat. But unlike Thanksgiving, winter holidays is a time for presents, effing fireplaces, blankets and hot cocoa, resolutions you hope you can accomplish, and festive excuses to get wasted. The holidays are really special and here are some things that make them special.

1. Winter Break

Without it you wouldn't even be able to enjoy the holidays as much as you can now. It's in the name. It lets you take a break from school and enjoy some time off. If there were no winter break, all the students who live hours away from campus wouldn't be able to be home because they would still have to go back and attend class, so thank Jesus for whoever invented winter break.

2. Family

This sounds like a no-brainer but often times you don't realize you miss home until you actual think about the different reasons home made you happy. Getting to hang out and catch up with the fam is always nice. And you can't forget the furry member. Anyone who has a pet waiting for them back home knows what I'm talking about. Walking through the door and seeing that furry scamp jump for joy or rub up against you affectionately is the best.

3. Christmas

Also a no brainer. Shopping, Food, Presents. All good things. Winter deals are always nice. We're all college students living on a budget, so whenever we can save money, we'll jump right on board. Christmas dinner is possibly the best part of Christmas, possibly. My family basically makes alot of the same dishes from Thanksgiving, but the turkey gets swapped out for usually steak or lamb. I think we're doing prime rib this year. Eff yeah, I'm so excited! Presents are another contender for best part of Christmas. My family is so busy this year that we gave up on trying to really surprise eachother. We just made a shared Google Docs and each of us put down 5 things we want. Pretty genius I say.

4. New Year's Eve

A time for self reflection and disappointment. Everyone wants to make resolutions and everyone wants to fulfill them, but let's be real, how many people do you know actually got there resolutions done? And let's be real again, New Year's is another excuse to get effing wasted. WHOO! Bring on the beer! And the fancy, expensive cocktails! And the more BEER! Just remember to drink responsibly. Unless you don't have to take care of your friends. Then there might be a chance you'll get blacked.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
