This epidemic is unavoidable.

Senior year is full of many ups and downs , but one thing is for sure every senior catches Senioritis at one point during the year. Senioritis is normally associated with just lack of motivation, but it is much more than that. From thinking about the future, college applications, going to interviews, applying for scholarships and keeping your grades up, it seems that you can never get a break.

1. You're Stressed

You are worried about getting into colleges. You are worried about getting a job. You are worried about keeping your grades up. You are worried about the future, and top it all off your “to do list” seems never ending. You can't seem to keep up with all the deadlines, interviews, rehearsals, events and studying you have to do. It seems like you're worrying about both the present and the future all day long and you have no clue how to make it stop.

2. Your life seems to be full of lasts

From your last football game to your last exam, your life seems to be full of lasts. It seemed like yesterday when your life was all full of firsts and you never thought the day would come when you were playing your last basketball game or buying a dress for your last prom. You been praying for this day to come since freshman year or even before that, but now that it has you want it all to slow down. Everything is more fast and it all seems bitter sweet. At this point you are coming to know the true meaning of “You don’t know what you have till it’s gone.”

3. You just don’t care anymore

You heard the rumors about this epidemic but now you understand the truth. Somewhere between the first day of school and the second day of school you stopped caring. You have no motivation to go to class, do homework or study. Ever since you got that first college acceptance letter you felt as though you no longer had to try or care about school anymore. Your grades seem to be dropping, you're missing class, coming in late and leaving early. You don’t care if you have a A or a B. Motivation is running low and all you want to do is leave.

4. You're both excited and scared.

You want it to end and at the same time, you don’t want it to end. You're excited for the future and all the “firsts” you will have. You're excited for a new school, a new job and overall a new life. You're excited for a fresh start, but at the same time you're scared to leave the familiar. You're scared for the homesick days when all you want it your mom's cooking. You will miss the familiar streets and restaurants. And most of all you're scared and excited for change.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that.
