Food and More

It's summertime! School is officially out, and everyone is in complete summer mode. One of the many fun things about summer is all the free time you get which is especially true for teenagers. However, with that free time comes more time to go places to eat with your friends and, the not so fun part, to spend money. If you're going to spend your money on food, you might as well be doing it in the best, most appropriate place.

1. The Big Ketch

The Big Ketch is located on Canton Street in Roswell. While it isn't in the "heart of Canton", it's still pretty close to all of the fun shops. The Big Ketch does have inside seating, but for a more "summery" feel, they also have patio and lawn seating. While you're waiting on your table to be ready they have corn hole and other lawn games set out and ready for you to play.

2. California Pizza Kitchen (CPK)

If you live in the Alpharetta/Johns Creek/Roswell area, you've probably already eaten at California Pizza Kitchen. However, if you haven't, you need to immediately! Along with The Big Ketch, CPK has indoor and outdoor seating. While the atmosphere may not be super "summery", they change their menu each season to help you achieve that "summery" feeling you want and need. (I highly recommend the Strawberry Shortcake--they only have it during the summer time!)

3. Kona Grill

Kona Grill is located at the Avalon in Alpharetta. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but their indoor seating isn't all the way "indoors". The whole restaurant is open, as you may be able to see in the photo above. When the weather is bad they may shut down the outside seating, but other than that, this is a perfect place to go for a summertime meal.

4. Taqueria Tsunami

Taqueria Tsunami provides the best of both worlds. Their menu is super light, but still flavorful (to help you keep that bikini bod), and they have outside seating that is absolutely to die for. I could sit out there for hours, without any food! It's a rooftop setting with lounge chairs, couches and also regular seating tables.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
